DEVOTION:  II Corinthians 9:7-8, "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work."
Either today or tomorrow you will receive a letter in the mail about our ministry goal to call a DCE (Director of Christian Education), who will minister primarily to children and youth.  This is a very worthwhile goal and one that, if everyone participates and everyone does their part, is easily attainable.
Here's the deal with that though.  EVERYONE has to do their part.  There is a general rule in the church called the 80/20 rule.  There is usually 20% of the people doing 80% of the work and giving 80% of the offerings.  I am going to ask you a tough question today, and I want you to take an honest look at your own stewardship in this, and for that matter, in every part of your life.  Are you part of the 80% or the 20%?  Are you, as a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, doing your part in and with the body of Christ?

Realize here that it isn't about how much you give.  God totally understands that you only have a limited amount of time, and money.  It is about the heart with which you give it.  That is why, in the passage above it says that "each should give as he has decided in his heart."  If you give what you are able and what, by prayerful consideration, you and your family have decided in your heart, this ministry will certainly be blessed and will grow!

This is a great time for St. John's and one that, with the Holy Spirit's help, will bear much fruit for many years to come if we take advantage of the opportunities available to us now.  I encourage you to consider your part in this and how you can be a benefit to your church for the foreseeable future.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, work through me that I may do my part in the body of Christ.  Amen.

Sam Hargrove- Army- 2 Lieutenant- Ft Rucker, Alabama, will be going through helicopter flight school and other training

Also, if you would like your family member or friend included in this list, please reply to this email with all the information!

Pray for these guys.  Some of these guys are in harm's way right now, others are training to put themselves in harm's way.  All of them have volunteered to serve and protect their country (which is you).
