DEVOTION: Isaiah 2:1-5 (ESV)

"The Mountain of the Lord"

The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

It shall come to pass in the latter days
    that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
    and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
    and many peoples shall come, and say:
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
    to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
    and that we may walk in his paths."
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,[a]
    and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
He shall judge between the nations,
    and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
    and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
    neither shall they learn war anymore.

O house of Jacob,
    come, let us walk
    in the light of the Lord.

I can't wait for that day.  All the bickering, fighting, bullying, favoritism, and the list goes on wears me, and I am sure you, OUT.  I can't imagine how worn out someone in their 80s or 90s is.  There are people out there who are actively at war with the police who are just trying to serve and protect.  There are others who want to kill me and you out there in the world simply because we are Christians.  They would just as soon kills us as try to talk to us.  There are still others, kids, who are so depressed and discouraged because the bullying they are suffering that they are considering suicide because of it, and some of them have succeeded in killing themselves.

There will come a day when all of this will stop.  What a glorious day this will be.  The day of the Lord can't come soon enough for us, but God is being patient with us, not wanting anyone to perish but all to come to a knowledge of the truth.

So until that day, you need to be God's hands and feet and mouth to give people that knowledge of the truth.  You need to make sure people know about Jesus, either by telling them yourself or by bringing them to someone and somewhere that can.

In the meantime, look forward to that day with joyful expectation and peace.  Look with joy to the day when we will all beat our swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks!

Let us pray:  Lord, make me an instrument of the Truth, of Jesus, so that the whole number of people will know about you so you can restore all things.  Amen.
