Prayer request

Please  pray for my Aunt Lois. She has many health  problems and had  a bad seizure tonight.  She is on a ventilator and is sedated. She was having an ultrasound to put in a pump for dialysis when the seizure  happened. She is 58 years old.

Thank you!

Daily Devotion: Thursday, October 16, 2014

DEVOTION: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.  In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness as not overcome  it.    John 1:1-5

It is hard to imagine God the Son, Jesus, being there at the beginning and thinking that there was going to come a day when Adam and Eve would sin, then everyone else would be sinful, then he would have to be born as a human, suffer, die, and rise again.  God knew that from the beginning.  JESUS knew that from the beginning, and yet he still did it.  He still created us.  He still loved us.  He still saved us.

It is more than just difficult, it is truly impossible to fathom and it hurts my head at times to think about these things, because it goes beyond my/our limited human thinking.   And I think this is why sometimes very intelligent people have a hard time with it.  Since they usually have such an easy time figuring things out and reasoning through things, and they can't figure out or fathom God, it must just be that it isn't real or true.

What we all need to do is surrender our will, our minds, and our hearts to God.  That's hard to do, because it isn't in our sinful human nature at all.  When Adam and Eve wanted to "be like God knowing good and evil"  God was just giving them what they wanted.  And now that human beings have that knowledge of evil some of them don't want to let it go.  They don't want to get rid of that false power that the devil keeps perpetrating that says we're in control and we can figure it all out, even God.

My prayer for you today is that you realize that you don't have it all figured out and you never will but that God does.  He has your best interest in mind!  He wants the very best for you, namely heaven!

Let's pray:  Lord God, you are God and I am not, help me to keep it that way so that you can be my God forever in paradise.  Amen.
