DEVOTION:
"Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.  Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it."  And he took them up in His arms and blessed them, laying His hands on them.

THERE IS A SPECIAL VOTER'S MEETING TONIGHT!!  SUPPER WILL BE SERVED AT 6:30 AND THE MEETING WILL START PROMPTLY AT 7!

Over the past eleven years, and dare I venture to say that it was the same way before I started as pastor here, the congregation has said, in many and various ways, that children and youth of the congregation are most important to us.

We want to make sure our kids are safe and secure in their Christian faith.  We want to know that they are well taken care of whaen it comes to the knowledge of their Lord and Savior Jesus.  We don't want to leave anything to question or to chance.

Tonight, at our meeting, we will have an opportunity to work towards that goal.  We will be voting on whether or not to call a DCE/Music minister (DCE stands for director of Christian education).  THis person will work towards making sure our kids have every opportunity to hear the Gospel, grow in their faith, and live out that faith in their daily lives.  This person will also be able to lead our music ministry so that we may worship the Lord fully and ot the best of our ability and His glory in song.

We spend an awful lot of money on our kids, don't we?  Music lessons, sports teams, tutoring, not to mention all of that technology stuff that they always seem to need.  We do this to invest in their future, to make sur ethey have every opportunity to succeed in this world and to live lives free of hindrances.  What better investment is there to invest in their faith and their spiritual lives?  I can't think of anything.  There is nothing more important.

IF YOU ARE A PARENT OR GANDPARENT, PLEASE COME TO THE MEETING TONIGHT!!  It is very important that you be there.  BABYSITTING WILL BE PROVIDED BY CARA KLAUSTERMEIER AND ANYONE WHO MAY WANT TO HELP HER!

Prayer:  Lord God, help us to grow our children in their faith so that the church might continue to grow throughout the next generations.  Amen.

HELP NEEDED FOR THE ALL HALLOWS EVE EVENT

As you all have probably heard about our "All Hallows Eve Chili & Hot Dog Supper" AND "Trunk or Treat" being held on Wednesday evening, October 31st at St. John's, we are asking for your help by donating any kind of bagged Halloween candy so we can assemble 160 bags of "treats" for our supper attendees!

Our Little Lambs Pre-School will be outside for the Trunk or Treat for the kids to visit as well.

We would also like to offer the little treat bags to those attending the chili and hot dog supper inside so it would really help if you all could bring some bags of candy to church the next 2 Saturdays/Sundays when you come to worship.

We plan to assemble the bags on Monday, October 29th, so we need to have all the candy donations by no later than Sunday Oct. 28th.

We will put a box for the candy collection in the narthex marked "ALL HALLOWS EVE SUPPER".

Our outreach ministry has helped many this year and being the end of the budget year, we will appreciate your help with the expenses of this event.

Thank you so much for your help in reaching out to the kids in our community to teach them more about Christ and how Halloween began in the first place and to fill their little tummies with goodies along with their hot dogs!

***Don't forget too that there is a pumpkin carving/decorating contest that night.  3 prize ribbons will be awarded for carved pumpkins that are brought to church ON Wed. Oct. 31 by 4 PM.  The will be for:  1.  The funniest    2.  The scariest    3.  The best

They will be used for centerpieces on the dinner tables!!  You may take your pumpkins home with you after the event ends at 8 PM.

STEWARDSHIP SPOLIGHT FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER IS PATRIOT PACKAGES
As we all know, our military forces are still spread throughout the world.  Many of our loved ones are deployed and arond the world and on bases throughout our own country.  Ptriot Packages, formerly known as G4U "Goodies for You" is a small yet effective way that we can care for all those men and women in a very real and practical way.  A group of people get together once a month to fill care packages to send out.  These packages have very specific items that these soldiers request, that are scarce or nonexistent where they are.

What they need from us is money so that they can buy the specific items they need.  As always, make checks payable to St. John's and in the memo line write "patriot Packages".  Also, as always, this should be above and beyond your regular offerings.
