DEVOTION:  "I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it." Jeremiah 17:24

How solid is your word?  Do you always keep the promises you make?  Do you always do what you say you are going to do?  If you are a sinful human being like me, the answer would be a big fat NO.  I can't count how many times I have said I was going to do something and then didn't do it, most of the time simply because I forgot about it, a lot of times because I just wasn't able to do it, but then also a time or two because I didn't really want to do it.

It is a curse of sinful humanity that we aren't always going to keep our word.  The Israelites said to god, "All that You have said we will do."  They didn't.  Peter said, "I will never deny you."  He did.  Paul said, "The good I want to do I don't do, but the evil I don't want to do, that I keep on doing."

The good news is that as much as we aren't going to always keep our word, God does.  He always keeps His promises.  Tis is especially true when it came to His promise to save us from our sins.  He sent His Son to do just that for us.  He kept His promise.  He always does.

As you fail to keep your promises, and as you go to Christ and to those against whom you have sinned for forgiveness, thank God for keeping His promises.  It means eternal life for you even if you don't deserve it.

Let us pray:  Lord God, thank you for keeping your promises and make us to realize each day that You have kept them for us.  Amen.

PRAYERS FOR OUR SERVICEMEN
I have been compiling a list of servicemen who are members of St John's so that we can pray for them.  Below is a list of them and where they are currently stationed.  Please note that their stationing changes quickly, so this may not even be up to date, but it is the last known whereabouts that I have of these guys.

Danny Dreyer-  Army- 2nd Lieutenant- Ranger, GERMANY

Sam Hargrove- Army- 2 Lieutenant- Ft Rucker, Alabama, will be going through helicopter flight school and other training

David Mincemeyer- Army- Army Specialist- Ft. Carson, CO

Jon Rahn- Navy- Hawaii, not sure of his rank at this time

David Tate- Air Force- 2nd Lieutenant- Jacksonville, Florida

Alex Walters- Navy- E4- Guam

Ryan Woolf- Air Force- Airman 1st Class- Buckley Air Force Base, near Denver, CO

If there are more out there that I just don't know about, please let me know, and I will include him/her on the list.

Also, if you would like your family member or friend included in this list, please reply to this email with all the information!

Pray for these guys.  Some of these guys are in harm's way right now, others are training to put themselves in harm's way.  All of them have volunteered to serve and protect their country (which is you).
