Prayer request for Georgean Sawyer: President of LWML St. Charles Zone

Dear Sisters in Christ,

Please keep Georgean in your prayers for the next several days.  She is back in the hospital (St. Luke's, I think) because of an infection at the surgery site.  Her home care nurse noticed the redness yesterday morning and sent her to the ER and she was later admitted.  She is not in any pain at this time, but is worried, of course.  She thinks the doctor may have to go back in and "clean out" where she had the surgery.  Her recovery from the surgery has not been going as well as she had hoped and she has been struggling.  So prayers, thoughts, and emails to her will be appreciated, I'm sure.

Joyfully serving,

Marian Hoehner, Secretary

LWML St. Charles Zone

DEVOTION:  1 John 3:1-3 English Standard Version (ESV)

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears[a] we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

This is our hope!  It is a hope that is not based on how good or holy we are but how good and holy Christ was and is.  That is what makes it a certain and sure hope.  "Everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure."  It is our hope in him that purifies us!  It is our trust in his salvation won for us on the cross that makes us holy.  It is still all about Jesus!  We are children of God NOW!  We are holy NOW!

Isn't that fantastic?  Isn't that the best news you've heard all week, even in your lifetime?  You are already a child of God, and because you are a child of God, you are holy!  You sure don't feel holy, but you are.  You are holy in the sight of the Father, because you have been clothed with Christ and it is no longer you who live but Christ who lives in you.

Today is ALL SAINTS DAY!  You are a Saint!  You along with all of those who have trusted in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  All of you are saints!  Live like it today!  Live in the peace and security of his grace!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for making me your child and making me a saint.  Amen.

WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF NOMINATIONS FOR OUR CHURCH BOARD!!!  Below is what we need:

Board of elders- 3 men of good standing in the church who are active: main duties include, worship and communion assistance, member care, developing of budget for salary and benefits for staff.  They usually meet on the second Sunday of each month at noon. (Dave Winter is timed out and two of our other elders have resigned this year.)

Board of trustees- 3 people- main duties include taking care of St. John's property and approving budget for insurance and maintenance.  They meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm and have several work days (usually on Saturday morning) throughout the year.  (Teresa Scott and Gary Hoelscher are both timed out and Scott Heitgerd has transferred to Immanuel, Wentzville)

Board of education- 2 people needed- Main duties include planning, preparation and carrying out of Sunday school program, VBS, and other education programs.  They usually meet on an as needed basis.  (Naomi Johnson is unable to continue due to work and family responsibilities and Lisa Rausch's first term is up)  We are in desperate need of a couple people who have the time and energy available to commit to this board.

Secretary-  This is not the same as our office administrator, Terry;  This person is responsible for taking minutes at voter's and council meetings, and for preparing agendas for the same.  This person can also be a signer on checks and other official documents.  (Patty Sweet has decided to go to a different church)

If you would like to nominate someone, including yourself, or have possible suggestions, please reply to this email, or call me at 636-359-1061
