Some times in our lives, we will have pain, we will have sorrow. But, if we are wise, we realize theres always tomorrow. Lean on me, when your not strong, I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on. For, it won't be long, til I'm gonna need, somebody to lean on. I spent a good part of the night singing to him to help manage the pain. I usually try to stay positive in these posts, but this has been an especially long night. These two particular chemo drugs he's getting this go-round usually cause the most discomfort. They have always been the tough ones to get through, but this time -with the radiation being administered simultaneously- is just beating him up. He woke up several times in the night crying out that his legs hurt. His head hurt. The nurse tried one drug after another. He begged me to pick him up and carry him to the emergency room. "You don't understand, I feel like I'm dying. You've got to give me something else!" Once all the possible drugs have been given to ameliorate the pain and he is still in pain, nothing is left but breathing, massage, changing bed positions, distractions and music. It seems we start there and finish there. Holding his hand. Singing. Rest your head close to my heart, never to part, baby of mine.
I"m so sorry. Each moment your child is in pain feels like an eternity. Thinking of you both and sending you prayers for peace, rest and comfort.

I wish that I could take the pain away. I know how it is to not be able to get comfortable to fall asleep. I have tears in my eyes as I was reading this. Kristin I truly adore you and Jonas. I know it must have been so hard to stay strong. But you know that this too shall pass. And there are brighter days ahead of this. I will keep you in my prayers and I am always thinking about you all. Let me know if there is anything, anything at all you need. You got it.

Oh, Jonas...my heart breaks for you and your mom. Everything is being killed; the good along with the bad. Hopefully, the bad cells will stay dead and you will have time to mend and cure the living ones. Know that everyone loves you and is rooting for you... We send our love and want you home soon, healed, to bring strength to all of us. LOTS OF HUGS, The Koshlands
