Please pray for John Hoenig. He was hit in the face by a steel beam at work today. He has a broken jaw and cracked wisdom tooth. He'll have surgery when the swelling goes down and jaw will be wired for 7 weeks.

Pastor's weight loss
Every day someone asks me what I've done to lose so much weight. They've been asking Karin too, and so she asked me to post something on Facebook and on email.
Also, I don't like to talk about it too much. I'd rather talk about faith, and Jesus, and stuff like that....
Anyway, Here it goes.
Back at then end of September last year I had given up trying to lose weight. Those who know me best, know how many different ways I had tried. I've lost the same 25-50 pounds a hundred different times. It is not the fault of those I've worked with before or even the plans I used. It was just me.
One afternoon, I heard Charles D'Angelo on the radio. He's a weight loss coach in St. Louis. You can check out his website charlesdangelo.com. He does free first time consultations. So I met with him, and he got right down to the nitty gritty of why I was the way I was. It was quite an emotional first meeting. At the end he guaranteed that if I did what he told me to do, I would lose all the weight I needed to lose. He has hundreds of success stories, including some famous celebrities, so I believed him and signed up with him.
One thing you should know is that he isn't cheap by any means, and you have to pay everything up front. I think this is part of his plan, as it was the number one motivator at the beginning for me to stick with it and do what he said. As I saw more and more success, my motivator changed of course. You also sign a contract that says that he can fire you if you aren't doing what he tells you to do. And somehow he knows, so you can't lie.
Anyway, I started this weight loss journey with him on October 5, and I can tell you that it was the best money I've ever spent for my health. On Thursday I will have lost 100lbs of fat and gained back about 10-15 years of life. Because of all the protein I consume every day, I've kept most of the muscle mass I had. I have five times the energy I used to have. I don't use a cpap machine anymore. My legs and knees don't hurt at the end of the day anymore, and..... I could go on and on.
But enough about me. You wanted to know what I've done. Please realize that this is very specific to me and my needs. Everyone is different.
I walk on the treadmill and eat the same exact thing every day for two weeks. At the end of two weeks I go and visit Charles and he changes it up a bit here and there, usually adding more to my walk and either adding or taking away a little something from the menu.
Here's what I do and what I eat every day:
First thing in the morning, I get on the treadmill, usually between 5-5:30. I don't do any weight training, because, as Charles explained, you can't lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. You end up shredding your muscles and hurting yourself and your joints, and it also causes you to be too hungry all the time which makes you cheat.
When I started out on October 5, I started walking on the treadmill 30 minutes at a 4 incline at 3.0 mph. Today I'm at 3.8 mph at 8 incline for 55 min. The rule is that You should be sweating hard within 10 minutes. Try to walk hands free from the railing for as long as you can.
What I eat- every day--
Morning-protein shake (I get mine from Charles, but you can get quality protein from lots of different places)
Midmorning- 20 plain almonds
Lunch- Subway six inch Turkey sub on wheat with double Turkey, lettuce, tomato, onions, light mayo, mustard, and a bag of baked chips (or a sandwich with a Flatout flatbread and 4-6 ounces of Boar's Head turkey)
Midafternoon- Dannon light and fit yogurt
Supper- 10 ounces chicken breast or white fish and two cups of broccoli, asparagus, or green beans and two tbsp sauce of choice
Night- Outshine real fruit no sugar added popsicle.
No calorie drinks but as much caffeine as you need. Lots of water, but no set amount.
I started out at 327 and am down to 228.5 in 7 months. I'm a pound and a half short of 100lbs gone. By Thursday I will be at 100.
A key for me has been that when you do and eat the same thing every day it becomes a habit like brushing your teeth and you don't really even think about what you're doing. Another key is to take the emotion out of eating and the only way to do that is to retrain your mind. I am not fantasizing about where I'm gonna go for lunch or what crazy food I'm gonna indulge in for supper. It's also not an afterthought which often caused me to pick the easy fast food choices.

ST. JOHN'S ATTITUDE TOWARDS CHILDREN IN WORSHIP AND WHAT WE PROVIDE FOR THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES!!
We love kids and St. John's and we love having them in worship with us. We love hearing their voices and seeing them enjoying it all. Please bring them! We want to see them there even when they're a little squirrely. Here are some things that we provide for all of our children on Sunday mornings!
- Busy bags- These are bags filled with fun things to play with and things to color and draw. They are hanging on the coat rack near the door.
- Activity Sheets- Along with the bulletins for the adults there are activity sheets for the kids. Sometimes adults like to use them too.
- A "cry" room. If your kids get too restless and antsy and you need a break from trying to hold them down or keep them quiet, the room right next door "the overflow" is reserved for you to take them. The wall is insulated and mostly soundproof so use it as much and as often as you want. Soon we will have some toys and things to calm them down.
- Children's messages- During all of our worship services at which there are enough kids present, pastor has them come up front to teach them the lesson of the day. They usually get a little treat when they come up.
- Sunday school- After our first service at 10:15 and during the 10:45 service a Sunday school teacher will take the kids to a Sunday school room and teach them a special lesson after the Children's message.
Spread the word and let your kids and grandkids know about this!

The Conversion of Saul

BUILDING ADDITION PLAN UNVEILING AND POTLUCK SUPPER NEXT WEDNESDAY, MAY 1 AT 6PM!!
Please make plans to bring a dish for supper, and see the architectural plans that Nathan Rauh has prepared for us!! It will be a night to get excited about the plans that Jesus has for St. John's and all he will do in and through us to bring the lost souls of Warrenton to Himself!

ST. JOHN'S ATTITUDE TOWARDS CHILDREN IN WORSHIP AND WHAT WE PROVIDE FOR THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES!!
We love kids and St. John's and we love having them in worship with us. We love hearing their voices and seeing them enjoying it all. Please bring them! We want to see them there even when they're a little squirrely. Here are some things that we provide for all of our children on Sunday mornings!
- Busy bags- These are bags filled with fun things to play with and things to color and draw. They are hanging on the coat rack near the door.
- Activity Sheets- Along with the bulletins for the adults there are activity sheets for the kids. Sometimes adults like to use them too.
- A "cry" room. If your kids get too restless and antsy and you need a break from trying to hold them down or keep them quiet, the room right next door "the overflow" is reserved for you to take them. The wall is insulated and mostly soundproof so use it as much and as often as you want. Soon we will have some toys and things to calm them down.
- Children's messages- During all of our worship services at which there are enough kids present, pastor has them come up front to teach them the lesson of the day. They usually get a little treat when they come up.
- Sunday school- After our first service at 10:15 and during the 10:45 service a Sunday school teacher will take the kids to a Sunday school room and teach them a special lesson after the Children's message.

Some of you haven't emptied your church mailboxes in a while. Others of you might not even know that you have a mailbox. If you are an adult member of St. John's you have a church mailbox! Your copy of the new constitution is in your mailbox and your 2019 offering envelopes are on the shelves underneath the mailboxes. Get your stuff!!!

For JENNIFER HOELSCHER, as she remains hospitalized at Barnes Hospital St. Louis. .
For those dealing with cancer and treatments ALAN HOFELDT, RAY STARK, HAROLD ANDERSON, JOHN MORRIS, father in law of Elise Morris; GEORGE HOELSCHER, MARILYN FOSTER, PASTOR RON LEHENBAUER, MARY BREUER, MARI GILB, both friends of Sandy Robine, Toni Mauch's brother RAY KOLN, and hundreds of others who are dealing with this dreaded disease. That God would provide healing and relief, but that God would also work through the pain and suffering to bring faith and in crease faith in those who need it. .
For DIANNE FELDKAMP'S SISTER, DONNA MAYES, who has been diagnosed with ALS, and her other sister, DEBBIE BURGER, who has been diagnosed with Grave's disease.
