Prayers needed

I am asking for prayers for a coworker of mine who is having the same heart attack symptoms right now as when she had a heart attack some time ago.
She has been through so much in her life already.

Thank you,

Christy

FW: ORDINATION BUDGET for Simon Peter Waako

My friend in Uganda, Simon Peter Waako,  Is working on his ordination plans set for June.  The culture is quite different in Uganda and so instead of the church supporting the ordination celebration and taking care of paying for things, he has to pay for all of it, and it is all expected.  Below is a budgeted list of items that are expected at his ordination.

I don't expect anyone to give toward this endeavor as, to us, this seems like things that are either unnecessary or should be taken care of by the congregation, but that is the culture and way of doing things there in Uganda.  If you feel moved and compelled to do so, please reply.

Peace be with you all!

DEVOTION:  "But the people refused to listen to Samuel.  'No! they said.  "We want a king over us.  Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.'"

How often have you refused to listen to someone?  Either you can't stand the noise in your ears or you can't stand what the person has to say.  Maybe when you were a kid you stuck your fingers in your ears and shouted "lalalalala" at the top of your lungs so you couldn't hear your parents tell you to do something.  Maybe you told your wife that you heard what she said, but quit listening to her when she said, "I need you to do something for me."  Whatever the case, we oftentimes stop our ears from listening, because we don't want to hear what is being said.

Just like the Israelites we too refuse to listen to God at times.  We may not consciously do it, but we sure do it subconsciously.  We do it when we do what we think is best even when we know it is against God's will.  We do it when we listen to the devil say things like, "Did God really say" or "God doesn't really care about this" or "If God really loved you he would let you...."

We are the Israelites in every respect.  And God is God from generation to generation.  Thanks be to God!  He doesn't leave us or forsake us.  He may let us have what we have pouted, thrown tantrums, and whined to get, but only to let us see that our way is never best, but His is.  When we finally turn from our foolishness, He is right there to forgive us, love us, and work is us to live better lives and learn from our mistakes.  He is merciful and gracious to us no matter how much we are like the Israelites.

Let us pray:  Lord God, as we make foolish decisions and learn from them, grow us up in Your mercy and grace so that we can be witnesses and examples of Your love to others.  Amen.
