DEVOTION: (from Pastor)
(Note: I am going to try to write more of these myself so that I can communicate the Gospel to you more often.)

In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."  John 16:33

Trouble seems to be all around us.  We can't seem to escape it.  It's in just about every part of our news.  It causes us sleepless nights and anxiety ridden days.  The bad news is that as long as there is sin in the world there will be trouble and tribulation in the world.

The good news is that Jesus has overcome the world.  He came to earth, lived a perfect life, died a perfect death, and rose to life again in complete perfection.  HE HAS OVERCOME THE WORLD!!

So we are able to say with the Apostle Paul, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."  How are you living?  Are you living in Christ?  Are you living as if Christ has overcome the world or are you still in despair over all the bad stuff going on in the world and maybe even in your own life?

I encourage you to live in Christ.  Notice, I didn't say "for" Christ, I said "in" Christ.  There is a big difference.  One is full of expectation and pressure, the other is full of peace and joy.  One is out of love and forgiveness, the other is out of a sense of obligation and compulsion.

I urge you today to think about what it means for you to live in Christ and what kind of a difference it could make on your outlook, your demeanor, your relationships, and you witness to Christ's love!  Take heart and live in Christ, because Christ has overcome the world FOR YOU!

Prayer:  Lord God, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.  Help me to realize mor eand more ech day that you have overcome this dark and sinful world for me so that I may live in peace despite a crumbling world around me.  Amen.
