Thankfully, the remnants of Hurricane Harvey are finally moving inland and away from Houston.
As the search and rescue phase continues, it will be some time before the waters recede and damage analysis can begin in earnest. One early estimate placed the flooded area in Harris County, TX alone at more than 400 square miles. For comparison, Orleans Parish is 169 square miles.
We plan to travel to Houston next week to join local churches and partner organizations, including the Texas District - LCMS, as they develop the locally-led long-term response.
Please contact us if you are interested in serving, or if you live in the affected area, and we will keep you updated as long-term volunteer solutions are worked out.
We have designated a special account to raise funds to assist in the recovery; 100% of all donations marked "Hurricane Harvey Response" will be used where needed most in Texas.
Please consider making a donation by credit card at our online giving page, or by mailing a check to:

The mission of St. John's Lutheran Church is to preach the Word of God in its purity and to teach this Word to all people. We do so through the means God has given us, the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
What We Believe
The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod accepts the Scriptures as the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and subscribes unconditionally to all the symbolical books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God.
We accept the Confessions because they are drawn from the Word of God and on that account regard their doctrinal content as a true and binding exposition of Holy Scripture and as authoritative for all pastors, congregations and other rostered church workers of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
