"No Mistake"
June 26, 2013
Daily Devotions Boarded Building 6-26-13... It will be counted to us who believe in Him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. Romans 4:24b-25

It was just the smallest of errors; really, the kind of thing which could happen to anyone.

The unnamed German bank worker who had been given the boring job of performing money transfers was terribly exhausted. That explains why, as he was preparing to transfer 62.40 Euros to the account of an individual, he dozed off for a few seconds.

As he nodded off, his finger accidentally rested on the number two.

Those few seconds were very expensive as the banker ended up crediting 222,222,222 Euros into the account of a patron. To save you the time of doing the calculations, that's not quite $300 million. Amazingly, the transaction was approved by the teller's boss, and the money transfer went through.

Eventually, the error was discovered, and all the money was put back where it properly belonged. This should have been the end of the wrongful transaction.

It isn't. The entire story might have remained forever unknown if the bank hadn't fired the manager who, in a fully awake state, had approved the transfer. The manager took the matter to court, which found in his favor.

Having read that story I thought wouldn't it be nice if someone put $300 million in my bank account.

Then I realized Jesus has done just that. Well, actually, He has done far, far more than that. Because of Jesus' sacrifice, because of His life, suffering and death, all believers have been given complete and total forgiveness of sins and salvation. As St. Paul said, Jesus' righteousness "has been counted to us who believe in Him."

Of course, there are differences between that news story and the story of our salvation.

For example, the bank transfer was an accident while Jesus' sacrifice was both promised and planned. Here's another difference: the person who received the money eventually had it taken away. That's not going to happen for those who are the Savior's beneficiaries.

And, of course, unlike the bank, our Heavenly Father wasn't upset by what Jesus had done. How could He be? After all, it was He who "has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (1 Peter 1:3b).

THE PRAYER: Dear Lord, I give thanks for Your divine plan, which sent Your Son into the world. Even more, I rejoice that because Jesus has successfully carried my sins, on Judgment Day I will be declared "righteous." For this and more I praise You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR OUR SERVICEMEN
I have been compiling a list of servicemen who are members of St John's so that we can pray for them.  Below is a list of them and where they are currently stationed.  Please note that their stationing changes quickly, so this may not even be up to date, but it is the last known whereabouts that I have of these guys.

Danny Dreyer-  Army- 2nd Lieutenant- Ranger, GERMANY

Sam Hargrove- Army- 2 Lieutenant- Ft Rucker, Alabama, will be going through helicopter flight school and other training

David Mincemeyer- Army- Army Specialist- Ft. Carson, CO

Jon Rahn- Navy- Hawaii, not sure of his rank at this time

David Tate- Air Force- 2nd Lieutenant- Jacksonville, Florida

Alex Walters- Navy- E4- Guam

Ryan Woolf- Air Force- Airman 1st Class- Buckley Air Force Base, near Denver, CO

If there are more out there that I just don't know about, please let me know, and I will include him/her on the list.

Also, if you would like your family member or friend included in this list, please reply to this email with all the information!

Pray for these guys.  Some of these guys are in harm's way right now, others are training to put themselves in harm's way.  All of them have volunteered to serve and protect their country (which is you).
