DEVOTION: Romans 11:33-12:8English Standard Version (ESV)
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
34 "For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?"
35 "Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?"
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
A Living Sacrifice
12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.[b] 2 Do not be conformed to this world,[c]but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.[d]
Gifts of Grace
3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members,[e] and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads,[f] with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen."
Is there any more all encompassing verse than this one to describe the TOTALITY (I just love that word, and I'm going to use it a lot more since I have heard it this week during the eclipse. He is the beginning and the end of everything we know. There is nothing that exists, including knowledge itself, that does not exist apart from God. We don't live, move or have our being apart from God's will. How mind blowing is that?
Still, we try to put our own ideas, our own thoughts, and our own will on God. We think of him as some sort of puppet, and if we just pull the right strings, do or say the right things at the right time, he will have to listen to us and do what we say.
It doesn't work that way. God is not some sort of genie in a bottle. He is not sitting and waiting for us to wish on a star so he can grant all of our wishes. He isn't at our beckon call as some sort of indentured servant. He is our Lord and God. He is our master! It is our will that has to bend and even break to His will, not the other way around.
How do you see your relationship with God? Is it like a modern marriage relationship where you are equals and he has to listen to you as much as you listen to him? Is it like a parent/child relationship where the parent spoils you so much that he gives you everything you want?
It should be a creator/created relationship. It should be a Lord/servant relationship. It should be a God/human relationship. He is your God and Lord! Don't ever forget that and repent if you have so that you may regain a right relationship with Him.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being my Lord and God. Help me to surrender my will to yours daily so that you may have your way with me, and the fruits of your Spirit may flow through me. Amen.

For CAL TAMELER who is HOME and is recovering from surgeries and a heart attack.
For LIL WINTER who is home, but is still awaiting test results and doctor's orders to get several procedures done.
For ANGIE BRUNSON, who is dealing with blood clots and an infection after a trouble from a hysterectomy.

PRAYERS FOR OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL:
For SAM HARGROVE deployed in Amman, Jordan and DAN DREYER deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, that the Lord would keep them safe from harm during their service and bring them home safely.
For DAVID TATE stationed in Japan, COLTON FIGURA stationed in California, and ALEX WALTERS, stationed in Tennessee. That God would bless their service to our country and keep them safe as they all await possible deployment.
For CALEB FIGURA AND VINCE MASTERS who are both serving our country in the National Guard and take time out of their lives, jobs, and families to go on duty several times a year.
