I and the Father Are One
22 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the colonnade of Solomon. 24 So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly." 25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,[a] is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one."This verse reminds us that we are not the ones who make Christians out of people. We don't do the converting, the Holy Spirit does. We are only the hands, feet, and mouth of the Holy Spirit. We just share the Gospel, we don't make the Gospel work.
So the next time you are frustrated that a person you love isn't receiving the Gospel like he or she should, don't blame yourself. Don't try to shove it down the person's throat. Don't force the Gospel on him or her. Just tell the good news with your mouth and show the good news with your actions of love and forgiveness, and then get out the way and let the Holy Spirit do His work.
It also tells us that He will give us eternal life, we will never perish, no one is able to snatch us out of His hand. Nothing should give us greater comfort and peace than this today! If you believe in the Lord Jesus and His suffering, death, and resurrection, you will be with Him forever! Rejoice!
Prayer: Lord, help me to relax when it comes to sharing the Gospel and just let it flow from my mouth, and from my forgiveness and love. Then swoop in and do what You do best. Give me Your grace in abundance so I can rest and enjoy this day despite all that is going on around me. Amen.
