31 At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, "Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you." 32 And he said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course. 33 Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.' 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! 35 Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'"
While it is true that Jesus came to the world to save sinners, not everyone appreciated or accepted Him or thought they needed what he came to offer and do. Many rejected him. His own people, in his own hometown rejected him. The people in Jerusalem were no exception. Not only did they reject him, but they falsely accused and convicted him and crucified him.
In two ways even this sad story gives us comfort. It helps us to know that Jesus longs for us to be brought under the shelter of his wings It helps us to know even more that he really cares for us and longs for us to come to him for rest and shelter.
It also gives us comfort to know that not everyone we love with the Gospel is going to accept our love or our words of the good news of Jesus. They didn't accept Jesus, himself. Why would we think everyone is going to accept our words.
Let us pray: Lord, thank you for longing for us and for gathering us under the shelter of your mighty wings of mercy and grace. Keep us from ever straying from them. Amen.

YESTERDAY'S BIBLE QUIZ: Jesus quoted the Old Testament in this past Sunday's Gospel reading when he said, "It is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'" Where is that found in the Old Testament?
Deuteronomy 6:16 The Israelites had tested God by questioning whether or not He was with them. Jesus quoted this verse in response to Satan's temptation.
Menu:
Sausage
biscuits and gravy
scrambled eggs
fruit
Please RSVP by Thursday night so I have a decent idea of how much food to buy.
We'll be looking at different rough drawings of economical ways that we can accomplish what we want to do to accommodate our growing congregation and support the future of our church! EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND THIS MEETING!!
Unfortunately over the past several years, they have barely broken even on these dinners. The parents usually donate the desserts and even much of the other food out of their own pockets. Without that the youth would probably lose money.
It is especially important that they make money this year, as they will need all they can get to make their goal for the National Youth Gathering in new Orleans.
I want to encourage you all to attend these dinners, and, while there is no set price per person for these dinners, a generous free will offering is strongly encouraged!!
Below is the Menu for each week:
Feb 24-
Turkey
Stuffing
green beans
apple sauce
desserts
March 2-
taco bar w/all the fixings
desserts
March 9-
pasta
salad
rolls
desserts
March 16-

potatoes
corn
rolls

As always, thank you for your continued support of the future of Christianity!!!
