Update on Jonas Borchert from Don Nolte

I was in Kansas city yesterday for the surgery to remove the tumor in Jonas's head on the right side.  The incision started in front of his right ear, up to the top of his head, to the back of his head, and down the back side of his head. The skin was laid back and the scull removed.  The tumor was attached to the scull and a main blood vessel going to the brain.  They had to cut out a smaller section of the scull to which the tumor was attached. They removed as much of the tumor as close to the blood vessel as possible.  The part that remained, they thought can probably be removed by radiation. The larger part of the scull was replaced and the hole where the tumor was attached was covered with mesh and the skin lapped back over and stitched back in place.  All of which took about 4 hours.  When he came out from under the anesthesia, about 9:15, he wanted water since he hadn't had any since the night before. They could only give him small amounts on a sponge  as they were afraid he might throw up if he had too much.  He also complained about the pain he was experiencing. All he could say was "Mama it hurts".  I talked to my daughter this morning and she said it was periodically better today.
It was so hard seeing him in such pain, but I knew it was necessary to relieve the pain he was in and that in time it too would be gone
I was so glad I could be there with him.
