We give thanks to God always for all of you... for your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3
We're human in the church. We get into spats over small, non-vital matters.
A particular congregation very nearly split. They called in a peacemaker to study the problem and help repair the fractures. After interviewing many members, he found what started it all. A couple of years prior, two men were on opposite sides of the serving table at a potluck supper. They simultaneously extended their forks toward the last peace of meat on the platter. One got it; the other didn't. The contagion of hurt feelings spread as people picked sides.
It's not easy to steer clear of congregational pickles. But let's be proactive-- prizing one another and praising God for one another. We love in small ways. And the best way to improve our love language is to thank God for one another in our private prayers to the Lord of the church. What's in our heart will bubble out of our mouths. As we speak well about one another, we'll slowly fund ourselves speaking in uplifting ways to them.
Let us pray: Jesus, loving head of the Church, help us to speak with positive and peaceful phrases, building up the Body. Amen.

For DAVE CALLIES as he recovers from knee replacement surgery yesterday.
For NANCY SPINIOLAS who is having trouble with her thyroid and is also having severe hip and back pain. .
For PAUL TOEDEBUSCH who is recovering from bladder surgery due to cancer.

I have been compiling a list of servicemen who are members of St John's so that we can pray for them. Below is a list of them and where they are currently stationed. Please note that their stationing changes quickly, so this may not even be up to date, but it is the last known whereabouts that I have of these guys.
Danny Dreyer- Army- 2nd Lieutenant- Ranger, GERMANY
Sam Hargrove- Army- 2 Lieutenant- Ft Rucker, Alabama, will be going through helicopter flight school and other training
David Mincemeyer- Army- Army Specialist- Ft. Carson, CO
Jon Rahn- Navy- Hawaii, not sure of his rank at this time
David Tate- Air Force- 2nd Lieutenant- Jacksonville, Florida
Alex Walters- Navy- E4- Guam
Ryan Woolf- Air Force- Airman 1st Class- Buckley Air Force Base, near Denver, CO
If there are more out there that I just don't know about, please let me know, and I will include him/her on the list.
