Day 8 Today Jonas is showing much improvement. The doctors have turned off his continuous morphine and now he only has the morphine button that he can push when he is feeling break-through pain. Yesterday he stood up several times and is able to lay on his back comfortably again. He has color in his face and the light back in his eyes! I will post a picture of him from last week and one from today. Yesterday he was given the go-ahead to start ingesting clear fluids if he felt like it, but he elected to wait until today. He started with a Sprite this afternoon and is looking forward to broth for dinner. His weight is down, just under 90 lbs. The first hurdle is to get food through his gut without pain, and the next hurdle is to put some weight on him. They plan to start tube-feeding him tomorrow. He is moving forward cautiously, still refusing any company. I'm beginning to wonder if we won't be home again before he feels up to it.
So glad to hear you're doing better! Love, Your Mom's cousin from California, Susan

Please tell Jonas that we are thrilled to hear that he is making progress -- slow and steady wins the race and we know he is going to win this battle. We can only imagine how difficult this is but please know all of Jonas' friends are sending our love and willpower to the fourth floor in Henson as best we can. We know that Jonas has what it takes to meet these challenges. The Lairds

Mission Statement
The mission of St. John's Lutheran Church is to preach the Word of God in its purity and to teach this Word to all people. We do so through the means God has given us, the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
What We Believe
The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod accepts the Scriptures as the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and subscribes unconditionally to all the symbolical books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God.
We accept the Confessions because they are drawn from the Word of God and on that account regard their doctrinal content as a true and binding exposition of Holy Scripture and as authoritative for all pastors, congregations and other rostered church workers of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
