DEVOTION:  Luke 15:1-3 English Standard Version (ESV)

The Parable of the Lost Sheep

15 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them."

So he told them this parable:

11"There was a man who had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.' And he divided his property between them. 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living.14 And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to[a] one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.

17 "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants."' 20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'[b]22 But the father said to his servants,[c] 'Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to celebrate.

25 "Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.' 28 But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, 29 but he answered his father, 'Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!' 31 And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32 It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.'"

Godot Engine 3.1 Looks Amazing

Godot 3.1 is not yet stable but a demo made for it looks like the engine could actually visually compete with Unity and Unreal.

The demo is available at GitHub, requires using an unstable build (unless you're building yourself) and the use of `git lfs clone https://github.com/godotengine/tps-demo.git`.

Thanks to its Patreon project, Godot Engine makes about $8000 per month (nearly $96,000 per year - of course there are Patreon fees but there might be nonpublic donations/support as well), which allows it to be much more than a passion project. Godot is being legally represented by Software Freedom Conservancy (I recommend this fantastic podcast about it).

One thing that bugs me about Godot right now is their download page:

Specifically this:
Put yourself into the shoes of somebody new to Godot. They want to download the engine of course. Let's assume they know the difference between 32 and 64 bit but how are they supposed to make a fast decision whether to get the "Downloads" version or the "Mono Version (C# Support)"? For the longest time I thought the C# support does not support GodotScript.

If C# is stable, why not include it by default?

If C# is unstable, why present it as an equal to the stable version?

Anyways, let's look forward to a stable 3.1 and much useful documentation. Documentation for modern game engines by the way means free-to-use sample projects with code you can understand.

There actually is one functional FPS tutorial with no sound at all and unpleasant controls but technically it seems fine:

It is part of the official documentation.

By the way, I'm collecting open source game(dev) Discord servers on the following server: https://discord.gg/usAHQdz . 14 so far. Let us know if you know of any missed ones!

Address Resolution Protocol(ARP)

Address Resolution Protocol(ARP) - Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is a low-level network protocol use IP address to find MAC address.

·         The Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) was developed to enable communications on a network.
·         Each and every device who is work on IP need ARP to map IP addresses to MAC addresses so that IP packets can be sent across networks.
·         ARP packet always broadcast on the network.
·         ARP table use to creates a data-link header and trailer that encapsulates the packet,
·         ARP cache use to storing MAC in memory for a period of time as the addresses are learned.
·         There are two types of ARP cache entry
·         1)static ARP cache entries
·         2)dynamic ARP cache entries.
·         Static entries are manually configured entry and kept in the cache table on permanent basis.
·         Dynamic entries are added by Cisco software and its kept for a period of time and then removed.
·         The ARP table is built and changed automatically
·         The default time limit is 4 hours.

Take a look of ARP Cache Content: -

Protocol: - its define the TCP/IP Internet Layer.

Address: - Its define the Logical IP address that binding on define hardware address.

Age: - Its define MAC storage time in minutes

Hardware Address: - Its define the MAC address binding on Logical ip address.

Type: - In type field ARPA define the Ethernet frame which is currently used by the Internet Protocol.

Configure Static ARP Entry: -

            R1(config)#arp 10.1.1.25 00ac.a1f3.01ab arpa fastEthernet 0/1

Types of ARP: -

1) ARP                 : - It's mapping of Layer 3 address to a Layer 2 address.

2) Reverse ARP    : - it is mapping of Layer 2 address to a Layer 3 address.

3) Proxy ARP       : - Proxy ARP use to respond the ARP requests with wrong MAC Address for a destination which is not in same network.

4) Gratuitous ARP: - Gratuitous ARP use for Duplicate address detection.

Happy To Say I'M Completely Wrong About Sekiro! (Monday Musings 66)

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Masterpiece?
I am so happy to say that I'm 100% wrong about Sekiro. I watched my streamer friends and the gameplay looks incredible. It has the same meticulous combat as the prior Souls games, and perhaps melee mechanics as complex as Nioh. At that time, I found Nioh actually having better combat mechanics than Souls series, but suffering from graphics causing migraine, lack of level design, limited variety of enemies, and being unbalanced at the last area as described here.

Perhaps the saltiness in my assessment is not only stemming from Activision, the review embargo not lifting until the day prior to release (so if the reviews are negative, pre-orders can't be readily canceled), but I feel my bitterness is mostly rooted in not being able to afford Sekiro at this stage, after doing taxes with my accountant.

What I'm planning to do is to take charge of my finances with All Your Worth by Elizabeth Warren. I recall when I followed her program faithfully, I was able to max out my IRA contributions, having emergency savings, and having fun money to spend on whatever I want!

I will hopefully post a synopsis of what I consider the best personal finance book I've read (and I've read numerous titles), including sample worksheets that the average American will have, such as internet, utilities and food, to see if this book is doable for the average American income at 24K (perhaps 20K after taxes).

Since I won't be playing Sekiro until much later, given my continued addiction to Assassin's Creed Odyssey, as well as working on my backlog of 100 games, I'm going to wait until the complete bundled edition comes out at reduced price. The benefits of waiting later is further described here.

I'm hoping to finish this All Your Worth post for the next Monday Musings, but for now, I'd like to conclude that Sekiro is exactly the game that I would love and find a masterpiece.

DEVOTION:  2 Corinthians 5:16-21 English Standard Version (ESV)

16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.[a] The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling[b] the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
