Psalm 130 English Standard Version (ESV)

My Soul Waits for the Lord

A Song of Ascents.

130 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
    O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!

If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
    O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
    that you may be feared.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
    and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.
And he will redeem Israel
    from all his iniquities.

YESTERDAY'S QUIZ:      What did Ahijah prophesy against Jeroboam, because he had his wife go to him in disguise and because he followed other gods?

That his son who was sick would die when his wife entered the door on her return home. Which happened.  "Also I will bring harm upon the house of Jeroboam and will cut off from Jeroboam every male, both bond and free in Israel, and will burn up the house of Jeroboam as a man burns up dung until it is gone.  Anyone belonging to Jeroboam who dies in the city the dogs shall eat, and anyone who dies in the open country the birds of the heavens shall eat, for the Lord has spoken it." ! Kings 14  (Thanks Don!)

Disciple Makers meeting tonight....... where was everyone?

We were supposed to have a meeting tonight at 6pm.  Only Paul and Teresa Brockfeld, on crutches, and on their anniversary, showed up.  I sent them away so they could celebrate.

The Figuras are sick.  I'm sure others just forgot, but I am still very disappointed.

I can't make these Wednesday nights happen and be successful without help.  I need helpers!

I need an

  1. art team of two or three,
  2. a skit team of at least five, and
  3. five  room hosts.

Most can do double duty and we will switch off every other week with skits and arts/crafts,

But I need at least five helpers every week.

PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING!  You won't have to be here every week, but it isn't going to be successful or last if I don't have helpers.

If you want to help but you just couldn't be here tonight, please let me know.

DEVOTION:  2 Corinthians 4:5-12 English Standard Version (ESV)

For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants[a] for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. 11 For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So death is at work in us, but life in you.
