Nomination forms for President, Vice President, Election of Circuit Visitors and other district convention elections are now available for download on the District's website, along with Pastoral and Lay Delegate forms. Please visit http://mo.lcms.org/2018-convention/ to download and complete the forms.   Immanual Olivette Ladies Preparing for Annual Craft Fair/Luncheon on Sat., Nov., 4 The ladies from Immanuel Lutheran Olivette are continuing their tradition of hosting an annual Craft fair and Luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 4th. Many hands have been busy all year – crafting, stitching, painting, gluing, crocheting, sewing, etc. This has been a successful venture since 1974, and has netted over $184,000 over the years. The ladies meet weekly to have fellowship and make craft items, while at the same time reaching out with mission projects. Half their proceeds are designated to missions, while the other half is for "at home" projects at Immanuel. Another $25,000 has been raised since 1995 by this same group at their annual Spring Sausage dinner. These proceeds fund projects at Immanuel. The ladies have been feverishly crafting new ideas this year; including jewelry/key boxes, old fashioned mini glitter houses, angels made from glass light globes, barnwood decorations, paintings, beautiful tree table decorations, and many one-of-a-kind items, too numerous to mention. Other members of Immanuel also get involved by donating baked & canned goodies, jams and jellies; scroll saw projects. It's a great way for everyone to start Christmas shopping and then enjoy a delicious soup, sandwich & salad lunch, served by the Women's Guild. Immanuel is located at 9733 Olive Blvd. The Bazaar begins at 10 a.m. and lunch at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited and admission is free.   Pledge Support for Our First-Year Lutheran Educators Make a pledge to support our first-year Lutheran educators during the 2017 Missouri District New Teacher Retreat. The Missouri District Lutheran Jr High Retreat is returning this fall on October 20-22 around the theme, "Forgiven". Our focus this year is on Confession, and the Office of the Keys. Cost is $165.00 per person We are excited to announce the theme and focus for our Senior High District Youth Gathering, which will be November 17-19, 2017 at Cross Pointe Retreat Center in Rocky Mount, MO. Filters change how we view the world and ourselves. The Sr. High Youth Gathering will dig into this theme through interest centers, worship, service, and fellowship as we consider how our lives are transformed by Jesus Christ. Our theme verses come from Ephesians 4 where Paul explores the difference between a life lived in darkness that focuses on selfish desires, and the new life we live as forgiven children of God. How can we "put on the new self" that looks outward and takes action by living out the righteousness of Christ? DEVOTION:  Matthew 22:1-14 English Standard Version (ESV)

The Parable of the Wedding Feast

22 And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, ² "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, ³ and sent his servants^[a] to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. ⁴ Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast."' ⁵ But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business,⁶ while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. ⁷ The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. ⁸ Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. ⁹ Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.' ¹⁰ And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.

¹¹ "But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. ¹² And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. ¹³ Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' ¹⁴ For many are called, but few are chosen."

 

Are you paying attention to Jesus' warning here today?  It's time to get your life right.  It's time to repent of ALL your sin.  It's time to get on that wedding clothes of Christ's righteousness, grace, and forgiveness.  It's time!  Now's the time!

        Has Jesus made himself clear?  He is speaking to you and to me today!  Don't ignore the Lord when he is calling you, whether it be to repentance, to worship, to confession, to love, or whatever the case may be.  Don't just keep going about your business with your ears closed to the Lord. 

                Then, when you hear the Lord and heed his invitation to come to the wedding feast, take your seat and rest!  Rest and enjoy the feast!  Enjoy God's goodness!  Don't worry about whether you are included or not.  Just know that with Jesus, you have on the right clothes and you will live forever with Jesus!

 

Prayer: Lord, open my ears and help me to listen!  Open my eyes!  I want to see Jesus!  Amen.

SPECIAL KIDS AND YOUTH REFORMATION SUNDAY SCHOOL AND  WEDNESDAY NIGHTS COMING UP!

Starting Sunday, October 15 and ending on Sunday October 29 during Sunday school hour beginning at 9:45 and Wednesdays at 5pm, our Sunday school and youth will be doing a special Reformation VBS style Sunday school and Wednesday night youth night for all kids ages 3-18!!!  On Sundays we will have special crafts and games along with the lesson.  On Wednesday nights we will start with pizza at 5 and then have our program!  Tell your kids, grandkids, neighbor's kids, and everyone else you know about it!!

PRAYERS: 

For the FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF CAL TAMELER as he fell asleep in Jesus Sunday afternoon.

 

For the MANY IN CALIFORNIA dealing with wildfires.

 

For IVY TINNIN, who has been diagnosed with epilepsy and will have to take a semester off of school because of it.

 

For THOSE IN LOUISIANA AND MISSISSIPPI who are dealing with hurricane Nate.

 

For the HUNDREDS IN LAS VEGAS who are dealing with the tragic shooting.

For DAVID GRAYSON, BUCK HAMPTON, AND GEORGE HOELSCHER all dealing with cancer and chemo treatments. 

 

For the INFANT GRANDSON OF DANE AND JODI BALDWIN who was born twelve weeks premature.  Right now he is getting some help with breathing, but all vitals and everything are good.  He was born at 2  and a half pounds.

PRAYERS FOR OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL:

For SAM HARGROVE deployed in Kuwait and DAN DREYER deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, that the Lord would keep them safe from harm during their service and bring them home safely.

 

For DAVID TATE stationed in Japan, COLTON FIGURA stationed in California, and ALEX WALTERS, stationed in Tennessee.  That God would bless their service to our country and keep them safe as they all await possible deployment.

 

For CALEB FIGURA AND VINCE MASTERS who are both serving our country in the National Guard and take time out of their lives, jobs, and families to go on duty several times a year.
