DEVOTION: Isaiah 51:1-6 English Standard Version (ESV)
The Lord's Comfort for Zion
51 "Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness,
you who seek the Lord:
look to the rock from which you were hewn,
and to the quarry from which you were dug.
2 Look to Abraham your father
and to Sarah who bore you;
for he was but one when I called him,
that I might bless him and multiply him.
3 For the Lord comforts Zion;
he comforts all her waste places
and makes her wilderness like Eden,
her desert like the garden of the Lord;
joy and gladness will be found in her,
thanksgiving and the voice of song.
4 "Give attention to me, my people,
and give ear to me, my nation;
for a law[a] will go out from me,
and I will set my justice for a light to the peoples.
5 My righteousness draws near,
my salvation has gone out,
and my arms will judge the peoples;
the coastlands hope for me,
and for my arm they wait.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
and look at the earth beneath;
for the heavens vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment,
and they who dwell in it will die in like manner;[b]
but my salvation will be forever,
and my righteousness will never be dismayed.
I watched the President's address for a little while last night. Living 46 years on this earth, I have heard address after address from presidents and other leaders. They can promise a lot of things. They can be more or less inspiring. Sometimes I believe them, sometimes I don't. One thing I know that none of them will deliver on, even if they promise it and seem like the most wonderful president we've ever had, is to bring peace to the world. They can lead our military to defend and protect our nation from evil forces. They can help to bring financial stability to a nation. They can do all the right things, in one or another's eyes, but they will not bring peace to this earth.
You see, when Adam and Eve sinned, the perfect peace they had and that the world had was lost. After this happened, God promised that he would save this world, redeem it, and one day restore it. We are still waiting on that day. Until then the world and everything in it is doomed to decay and destruction.
So as much as we'd like the president or any world leader, army, or nation to restore peace on earth, the only one who can do that is the one who created it and redeemed it, namely the Lord God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! "Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men who can not save." Look to the rock!! Look to Jesus!!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being my redeemer, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my sure defense, and my Savior! You are everything to me. Amen.

For GEORGE HOELSCHER as he is in the hospital again, this time with heart troubles.
For CAL TAMELER who is HOME and is recovering from surgeries and a heart attack.
For LIL WINTER who is home, but is still awaiting test results and doctor's orders to get several procedures done.
For ANGIE BRUNSON, who is dealing with blood clots and an infection after a trouble from a hysterectomy.

PRAYERS FOR OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL:
For SAM HARGROVE deployed in Amman, Jordan and DAN DREYER deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, that the Lord would keep them safe from harm during their service and bring them home safely.
For DAVID TATE stationed in Japan, COLTON FIGURA stationed in California, and ALEX WALTERS, stationed in Tennessee. That God would bless their service to our country and keep them safe as they all await possible deployment.
For CALEB FIGURA AND VINCE MASTERS who are both serving our country in the National Guard and take time out of their lives, jobs, and families to go on duty several times a year.
