Update on Jonas Borchert

The picture attached was taken on Friday by a group that takes "last" family photos.  I have not seen the family photos yet but Kristin wanted photos with all of his friends.  These were posted on Facebook.  All of these boys have been spending the night at the hospital for moral support.  What a great group of friends!

Jonas had the lower lobe of his lung removed yesterday.  The surgery was over 5 hours long but went smoothly.  He is in a lot of pain and was moved to the cardiac ICU. He will remain in the hospital for another week.  He will not be allowed to have visitors for 48 hours and once he can have visitors it will be one at a time.  Still there is a gaggle of boys hanging out in the waiting room just waiting for the moment Jonas is ready for visitors.

Doctors do not typically perform surgeries of this sort on Stage 4 Metastatic cancer patients but Jonas' vital signs are not acting like a typical Stage 4 cancer patient.  The doctors are hoping to give Jonas several more months.  There are several clinical trials that they are looking at that may extend his life even further.

Hope is what we are clinging to.
