DEVOTION:  Nehemiah 4:6-9---- So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart. But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem's walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.

The devil is always working.  He never takes a break, especially among and in Christians.  His only goal is to get you to turn away from Christ.  How is he doing lately?  Is he winning?  have you been giving in to temptation a lot lately?  Have you been doing things without thinking about them?  Have you been staying away from prayer and devotion?  Are you having trouble with the evil one?

Do what Nehemiah and the Israelites did against Sanballat and the Persians.  They prayed and worked, prayed and worked!  They kept praying and working.  They also had a plan.  Nehemiah would have half of the people work while the other half stood with shields swords and clubs to protect themselves.  And they did this from the first light of dawn until the stars came out.  No one rested at night either.  They all took turns working.  It even says that no one even took off their work clothes.

It all worked, but only because they stood strong IN THE LORD!!  It was only because the Lord was with them.  He gave them His Holy Spirit, who gave them the power and the strength to make it through this tough time.  It wasn't without hardship.  There was much grumbling.  There was A Lot of sacrifice, but there was also extreme joy when they had finished building the wall, when God gave them success.  It was a very beautiful day for them!

By the way, they completed the wall in 52 days.  An amazing feat, especially without all the modern tools that we would use today.  When the enemies heard about it, they gave up!

Let us pray:  Lord God, give us strength, power, and perseverance so that we can win and one day enjoy eternal life when the devil will have no choice but to quit.  Amen.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM ALREADY????
Let's get ready for the Christmas Program! I know we haven't even had Halloween and Thanksgiving yet!!! We have to start on the program now because we only have NINE more Sundays to practice before the December 15th Program. We will be holding the program at the 11am church service. Now if you are a Sunday school age student and wish to be part of the program, please come to Sunday school as much as possible for the next nine weeks.

Besides the traditional songs we will sing as a group we will also be doing the ushering, offering, and readings for the service. Any age students may participate in the background support rolls. We are also looking for students to play their instruments and/or sing a special piece. If you are interested please contact Karin Klaustermeier or Donna Sherman.

POSSIBLE TRIP TO THE CREATION MUSEUM NEXT SPRING OR SUMMER

Hey parents of Sunday School Students!
We have a grand idea to take the kids to the Creation Museum! This would be a trip we would raise the money for the expense. We have a starting fundraiser idea and hope to get matching funds from Thrivent.

Are you interested in having your kids take a learning journey that may be the cornerstone of their faith for the years ahead? Parents are welcome to come along. We are in the early idea stages, but we would take the six hour trip by motor coach to the museum and plan to spend the night near by in order to take advantage of the special tickets you can use two days in a row.
