DEVOTION: "I have examined him in your presence and have no basis for a charge against him." Luke 23:13-16

If one were to put us on trial concerning our thoughts, words, and actions, each and every one of us would be found guilty.
There is not one of us who could even begin to claim any sort of innocence. From the time we are conceived there is sin in us
and all around us. We can't escape it.

Not so for Jesus. Even after the Pharisees continued to try to trap Jesus again and again in his own words, they were not able.
Even after both Pontius Pilate and Herod examined him carefully in full view and presence of all of them, there was nothing for
which they could charge him. Nothing except the truth, that he claimed to be, and was, the Son of God.

His perfection was the reason that His sacrifice of His life was sufficient for all of us. His death on the cross paid the
perfect penalty for sin that we, by virtue of our sinfulness, could not pay.

As we come into the season of Thanksgiving and then Advent, be thankful especially of your salvation, and be ready for the coming
of our Lord Jesus by confessing your sins and repenting from them. Then know that your sins are forgiven because of the perfect
life, suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ. Amen

CATECHESIS:
Question: Does everyone who eats and drinks the Sacrament also receive forgiveness, life, and salvation?
Answer: Forgiveness, life, and salvation are truly offered to all who eat the Lord's body and blood in the Sacrament, but only
through faith can we receive the blessings offered there.
