Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room with the windows opened toward
Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to God, just as he had done before.
Despite knowing that he would get in trouble for it, Daniel would have rather served God than men. He wasn't about to let a few
satraps of the king, who were looking for a way to accuse him, destroy his faith or his relationship with God.
It makes you wonder what it would take for you today. What would it take for you to deny your relationship with God in order to
keep your own comfort? At what point would you serve men instead of God?
Unfortunately, as a pastor, I get to see it happen way too often. Not only with those who claim to be Christians and worship
God, but within my own life as well. There are times when. to stay in my comfort zone, I have kept myself from proclaiming
Christ. There are times when, instead of clinging to Christ and His salvation for peace and comfort, I have clung to worthless
idols. What about you? What does it take for you to ignore, disregard, and belittle your relationship with your heavenly Father?
Today would be a good day to repent of it. It would be a good day to renew your relationship with God. Get on your knees and
ask God to forgive you for ignoring him, for faling to worship him, and for your decrease in faith.
Then, know that the forgiveness of God washes over you. He cleanses you of all sin. The love of the Savior covers over the
multitude of sins in your life. You are free from the guilt! You are clean. Live like it!
Prayer: Help us not to neglect Your gifts of Word and Sacrament. Make us bold to proclaim Your truth in any and every
circumstance. Restore to us the joy of your salvation and renew a right spirit within us! Amen

CATECHESIS:
Question: What great care should eb taken with an openly unrepentant sinner?
Answer: The congregation must carry out church discipline in love and patience. "If your brother sins against you, go and show
him his fault just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen to
you take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of tow or three witnesses. If he
refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Matthew 18:15-17
